Using Costing Keys for CO-PA Reporting (Part 2)

Once you have defined the relevant costing keys, you will need to assign them to the relevant objects In order to compute a cost of sales valuation in CO-PA. In order to assign the costing keys you would need to go to the configuration menu path: Controlling -> Profitability Analysis -> Master Data -> Valuation -> Set up Valuation Using Material Cost Estimate;

Assigning Costing Keys to Products: In case you want your cost estimate to be used to value only certain products in CO-PA, then you can use this step to assign costing keys to specific products. When you get to the configuration table, you will see the following columns which are explained below:

PV This is the “Point of Valuation” and refers to the trigger-point when CO-PA is updated  with the costing key valuation 01 – Real Time Valuation

Assigning Costing Keys to Material Types: In case you want your cost estimate to be used to value only certain material types in CO-PA, then you can use this step to assign costing keys to those material types. Typically, you would assign the costing keys to material types for products that you sell, such as Finished Products and Trading Goods. When you get to the configuration table, you will see the following columns which are explained below:
